Before The Breast Lift Procedure

During The Breast Lift Procedure

Most breast lift surgeries are performed under general anesthesia, but sometimes local anesthesia with sedation can be used.

In most of the cases during a breast lift surgery, the incision is made around the areola, in the submammary fold and in the vertical line connecting them, resulting in an ‚anchor‘ or ‚inverted T‘ shaped scar. In some selected cases the long horizontal scar could be avoided (the so called ‚short scar‘ or ‚lollipop‘ technique) or even the vertical scar could be abandoned (‚periareolar‘ technique). After the removal of the excess skin, the breast are remodeled in their new shape. Once both sides are complete, the surgeon checks the symmetry and the position of the nipples and closes the wound.

At the end of the breast lift surgery you will get an elastic bra to prevent the swelling and hold the implants in place.

After The Breast Lift Procedure

Having pain after the breast lift surgery is normal, especially in the first two days, although it can be lessened with the pain medication prescribed by our surgeon or the attending anesthetist. Normally there is some bruising, and the breasts are swollen post the breast lift surgery.

Two to three days – the breast is sensitive, refrains from the movements of the arms. The elastic bra should be kept on
Ten days to two weeks – return to work. Stitches are removed
Six weeks – more strenuous activities can be resumed, the elastic bra could be replaced with a normal one, scars are still visible, redness fades away
One year or more – your breasts will have settled into their final appearance, scars are barely visible, the sensitivity of the nipple return to normal.

Duration of results: 5-10 years depending on the volume of the breast and the elasticity of the skin
